Spaghetti Supper Clean Up Chair Responsibilities
Recruiting
The most important part of this position as you must adequately staff each shift. Some parents may sign up, if needed, to do double shifts. This is an easy committee for working/busy parents as it’s really just night of event. We were a few people short but supplemented with older students needing community service hours.
We recruited 2 CCHS Carlisle students (9th & 10th grade) to help out all night with composting/directing 6th graders at trash/recycling/compost area. In addition, we recruited 3 8th graders to help do some heavy lifting & cleaning at the end of the night. Many volunteers form other committees stayed to help in the clean up effort, but having three or four strong 8th graders for an hour was very helpfu. They carried decorations to the shed, carried trash, moved tables, stacked chairs, etc.
Supplies
Go through the CleanUp binder to find required number of dishcloths, trash bags, and cleaning supplies. You may need to purchase additional supplies.
Trash
As the binder indicates, we need to haul our own trash away at the end of the night. We had a 6th grade dad with a pick-up truck, who has a contracting business, who disposed of the trash for us. This was very helpful.
Organization
Waitstaff, Decorations, and Clean-Up Chairs should meet to discuss table layout and traffic flow, and trash area set up. A final meeting should happen the day or day before of the event to confirm floor plan and flow of adults and waitstaff, and cleanup staff location. Sue Robichaud is helpful to have at that meeting as well.
Student Volunteers
Carefully utilize volunteers from 8th and 9th graders needing community service. Touch base with Margaret Heigl early in the year to let her know if you anticipate needing extra help.
