Class Treasurer for Grades 6, 7 and 8
Class Treasurers for Grades 6, 7, and 8
This role is filled early in the calendar year of Fifth Grade along with the Class Representative position. For continuity, the Class Treasurer serves for all three years of Middle School. Please contact the PTO Middle School Vice President if you would like to express your interest in serving as the Class Treasurer.
Treasurers for these grades oversee the funds raised and spent associated with their class activities. In the Fall of 6th Grade, the incoming Class Treasurer meets with the PTO Treasurer to open a class account. In 6th Grade the money raised is used to pay for the bus for Outdoor Education and provide scholarships for families identified through the school as needing assistance for Outdoor Education tuition. In the Fall, the Treasurer is also responsible for providing a budget for the Spaghetti Supper to the Spaghetti Chairs to work with as they meet with their sub-committees. The Treasurer collects all money raised and provides reimbursement for expenses incurred. This is the main fundraiser for the middle school years. This fundraiser provides the seed money and budget for the 7th Grade play which is not a fundraiser.
In the Spring of 6th Grade, the Class Treasurer, Class Representative and VP of Middle School identify Coordinators for the Social Dance and the 6th Grade Concession Stand. The Treasurer works with the Social Dance Coordinator collecting registration fees. The treasurer then pays the Dance Studio and the bus company. At the same time, the Treasurer is in contact with the Coordinator for the 6th Grade Concession Stand held during the 7th Grade play. This is a small fundraiser. The Treasurer will need to coordinate collecting the money raised at each performance and provide reimbursement for any supplies bought.
For continuity the Class Treasurer works with the PTO Treasurer during their tenure.
