There are lots of great things happening in the Sixth Grade! Three major events are the Spaghetti Supper in the Fall and the Sixth Grade Social Dance and 6th Grade Concession at the Seventh Grade Play in the Spring. Please keep this website address handy as we will invite you to come here for information about these events throughout the year.
The Middle School Grades do not have Room Parents, but rather a parent volunteer Class Representative. The 6th grade Class Representative serves as a liaison between the parents of 6th grade, the school administration, and the Carlisle Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The 6th grade Class Representative serves for one year. This position is filled/established in January or February of 5th Grade If you are interested in serving as the Sixth Grade Class Representative please contact the PTO Middle School Vice President to let them know.
Since 6th grade is the first year a class actually raises funds in their name, there is a parent volunteer Class Treasurer as well. For continuity, the Class Treasurer serves for all three years of Middle School. This role is also filled early in the calendar year of Fifth Grade along with the Class Representative position. Please contact the PTO Middle School Vice President if you would like to express your interest in serving as the Class Treasurer.
Once the 6th grade Class Treasurer and Class Representative are in place they will work with the VP of Middle School in identifying 3 Chairs to head up the Spaghetti Supper. These three Spaghetti Chairs will begin to identify the sub-committee chairs and will provide sign-up sheets at the Back to School Night to help recruit parent volunteers for the different sub-committees. The Spaghetti Supper happens early in the 6th Grade school year, usually on the early release day in October, so the planning begins well before the school year ends in Fifth Grade. If you are interested in being a Chair of the Spaghetti Supper please contact the PTO Middle School Vice President.
The Class Representative, the Class Treasurer and the PTO Vice President for 5-8 also identify chairs to coordinate the Sixth Grade Social Dance and the 6th grade concession stand for the Seventh Grade Play. Chairs for both the Social Dance and the 6th Grade Concession need be be chosen in January. The Social Dance runs for 4 weeks in March or early April and the Concession happens during the 7th Grade play for 3 shows in March. If you are interested in serving as the Chair of Social Dance or Chair of 6th Grade Concession, please contact your Class Representative.
*Note that the Middle School Activities of the Spaghetti Supper, Sixth Grade Social Dance, Seventh Grade Play and Graduation events are completely parent driven and are not managed by the PTO. The PTO Middle School Vice President assists in identifying the chairs for these great events as someone familiar with the events, possible volunteers and the school overall. The PTO works with Class Treasurers to clarify appropriate use of funds and reports finances of each Middle School Class under the non-profit status of the PTO.
